Manufactured homes are regulated by the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s building code. Also known as the HUD code, this is one of the main benefits of new manufactured homes. This is because the HUD Code regulates manufactured home strength and durability. This code also deals with factors like fire resistance, wind safety, and overall energy efficiency. Modular homes are similar to manufactured homes, but are regulated by state-level building codes. Because of the federal restrictions placed on these homes, you’re guaranteed a home to be built to strict safety standards. Plus, your home will last for many years and cost less than a stick-built home. Finally, with a manufactured home you can expect a much greater level of customization than you would with traditional housing.
